It’s the first day of the month, which means it’s time to rank my three favorite travel credit cards. This ranking is primarily based on cards that provide the most value while requiring the lowest annual fees. Sometimes this will include premier high annual fee cards, and other times it will be cards with no annual fees.
Before we get to the list, let me also mention that just because a card is not on this list doesnt mean its not a good card. Although this list is a ranking, its also intended to widen your range of credit card choices by showing the different options out there.
1. Capitol One Venture Reward
With just a $95 annual fee, this card provides an impressive amount of value and benefits. Let’s start with one of my favorite features, which is the 2X Miles reward rate on all purchases. While reward rates on travel, dining, and shopping are common, earning 2X on all of your purchases is truly a game-changer. This also provides you with a long-term strategy for accumulating points rapidly and not solely relying on the signup bonus.
Annual Fee: $95
Current Signup Bonus: 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening
2. World Of Hyatt
Hyatt is known for having one of the premier hotel collections worldwide, and the World of Hyatt credit card is a great way to enhance your stay at Hyatt properties. The card currently offers automatic Discoverist status when opening your account, which includes benefits such as 2 PM late checkout, room upgrades upon availability, and a 10% bonus on points for eligible spending at Hyatt properties. You also receive one free night at category 1-4 Hyatt hotels.
Annual Fee: $95
Current Signup Bonus: 30,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first 3 months after account opening. Earn an additional 30,000 points by earning 2 bonus points per $1 spent during the first 6 months from account opening, on up to $15,000 spent.
3. CITI Premier
Last but not least is the Citi Premier Card. This card provides numerous ways to earn points through travel by offering 10X points on hotel & car rental (booked directly through Citi Travel), 3X points on all other hotel purchases, and 3X points on travel. The card also has a number of transfer partners, including Avianca LifeMiles, Emirates, Etihad, and Flying Blue. This card currently has a 20% transfer bonus when transferring Citi points to Wyndham Rewards.
Annual Fee: $95
Current Signup Bonus: Earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months of account opening. Valued at $600 for a gift card or towards travel.
